Similar to bullying, Cyberbullying is the repeated and intentional harassment of young pupils through the use of technology.
This issue is a growing concern for parents and teachers because the threat is in school and out. When the victims involve persons above the age of 18, the term is no longer applicable.
Unlike traditional bullying, a cyberbully is restricted to verbal and written assault through some digital resource. This can lead to further abuse physically. There is false sense of anonymity in which the attacker deems less consequential to traditional bullying. A cyberbully can be unaware of the harsh effects of their assault. The bully can even become the victim in a vicious cycle. The digital world opens opportunity to take the bullying to a more drastic and hurtful level.
Cyberbullies are hard to catch. It is important to what it looks like, what the signs are, why it happens, who it affects, how to prevent it, the grave consequences, and how we can take action against.
